This story is fascinating to me. The Shelter held 200 people and the Music Institute held 150. And I thought when I held the first Detroit techno records in my hands that this is the hottest stuff around.
The struggle this guy Richie had, to get into the DJ game is amazing to me. The shy guy with all the cool records trying to get into his spot doing this more industrial type of techno as I would put it.
And looking at where he is now this is important to keep in mind. There is a struggle for finding your place in this music scene. You have to do it, no matter what everybody else is saying. The way will carve itself while you are moving and producing. That is what I take from the story of Richie Hawtin.
