Blast from the Past x Eric IQ Gray & The Shoplifters

It was in the springtime of ’91 when we received Eric’s telephone number from the main guy from the Central Sound Studio in Hamburg.  We had just finished our first single „Indian Reservation“ under a different moniker. We didn’t know that he was the man who brought The Poor Righteous Teachers to light two years prior. That fact would hit

At the time when I called him I didn’t know that he was the man who brought The Poor Righteous Teachers to light two years prior. That fact would hit us when he was sitting our car.  Of course, we were excited to have Hip Hop History among us to learn from.

Soon after we called him, he was already sitting in our car on our way to the home studio. There was a lot of deep-talk shared and quickly we decided to jam. So everything was set up and we came up with some tracks. Some were produced on the spot.

So here you go.

Demos and mashups from back then.  4-Track Recording done with

the SP-1200, W-30 and Roland Juno 106.

We do hope you feel the spirit we conserved on these. Pure fun.
